Thrifting Fun & Treasure Hunts

Pict0122
I got the bug to go thrifting again and look what I found!  Another man's junk is someone else's treasure right? Right.

I'm like a little girl in a candy store when I see great books just waiting to be mine.  And the great thing about it is when I'm done reading them, I donate some of them back.  I drive up to the back door and drop them off and then walk in the front door, only to walk out again with some great new finds. Hey, I'm contributing to the recycling universe :-).

The book aisle is an exciting treasure hunt.

I have grown to love looking through old books (the older the better).  Several weeks ago I opened a book and discovered a beautiful note written on the first page dated 1943.  It had been a gift between two sisters. I stood there reading the touching words with tears in my eyes.  It was loving, moving and so beautiful!  I immediately wondered why that person didn't keep it, why and how it ended up there and wondered about their lives.  I later wished I had purchased it and kept it for them.

I stopped by the store recently, hoping that by some miracle it was still there but, it was gone.  I hope someone else was also touched by the note and knew it was too special to leave on the shelf.  The beautiful words in that note exchanged between two sisters so long ago was theirs, but maybe, just maybe... it was also a treasure meant to be shared.
