Happy Tree

Picnik_collage

No, these are not ornaments from our Christmas tree: they're from our happy tree.

I bought it at Marketplace Gifts ten years ago soon after we moved to Washington.  I loved it because it's very... northwestern-ly.  I have it in my office and thought I'd share with you all the cute little ornaments. Aren't they darling?

The porcelain Irish blessing ornament was a gift from a former boss.  The Kirby one was handmade at a craft show. The Auburn ones were a gift from my sister Korina to the hubster.  I bought him the little plane since he's fanatical about aviation.  They're all symbols and reminders of things we love. Which reminds me... I need to be on the look out for new additions; a camera, a bike, a book, flip flops, teddy bear... the possiblities are endless!

Hobby Lobby here I come!!!

Back On Track

Back_on_track

How and when did I get off track anyway?  Well it happens... but I'm happy to be back on it. I'm back to my routine of exercising three times a week and it feels awesome!

Yes, I go for a walk at the park, I suppose that's a form of exercise but I needed more.  I'm talking about a heart pumping, gritty sweat, needing to talk myself into not quitting type of workout.  It gives me that bounce in my step. It pumps me up.  It gives me that oompf! And I sure love some oompf! :-)

Some people do yoga, others dance or swim. Whatever gives you the satisfaction that you're doing something great for your health, by all means continue doing it and get that oompf!

Live It Up

I still use a Franklin Covey planner to keep me organized at work. Last week I refilled it with new 2011 inserts. The first page of every month has beautiful illustrations and quotes; they are so pretty I thought I'd share them with you.
  1. January - Time is a friend, a healer, and a maker of dreams.
  2. February - The feather from which the first quill was made, dropped from an angels wing.
  3. March - Every flower loves the air it breathes, even the violet, half hidden by a mossy stone.
  4. April - Every kite that flies... silently wonders the color of the wind.
  5. May - We are unaware of what miracles may come.
  6. June - Life's music lingers, it is the song inside each heart that never stops singing.
  7. July - Remember the moon, dreams, hope, and the times of your life.
  8. August - Our days are filled with unexpected treasures.
  9. September - The simplest joys can bring the heart its sweetest pleasures.
  10. October - Cherish time, for it is the stuff of which life is made.
  11. November - Taste the beauty of nature for it brings the sweetest pleasures.
  12. December - A season for love and sweet moments shared.

We have many months and days ahead of us this year. Let's live it up!

Lights, Lights and More Lights!

Pict0047

The husband brought down the boxes from the attic, Christmas stuff was everywhere and the yearly ritual began!  We began opening all the boxes, taking out the garlands and testing the light strands.  Little by little things came together.  The lights are finally untangled, the Christmas tree is decorated, the garlands are in place, the wreath is on the wall, the new candles are out and Christmas music fills our home.  It looks so festive, so colorful!  If I could leave it up all year long I'd be a happy girl!

The husband will now begin his planning for the outside lights.  He'll have to hurry up and put them up before our neighbor from across the street calls to remind us.  She's a friend and our pet-sitter.  You see, she calls because my husband usually goes bananas with the outside lights and she says she can't wait to see what he will do next. It's all in good fun.

Tell me.  Do you have your lights and Christmas tree up or is it on your to-do list?
