Snippets of Life

In some Latin American countries today is el Dia del Amor y la Amistad (Day of Love and Friendship). I love that friends are appreciated also; isn't that wonderful?
We all have friends who enrich our lives every day with their support, encouragement and love. They are a part of the people who shape our lives and fill all the corners in our hearts.
People who teach us to see the miracles we'd stumble over every day. To see things anew, stand tall and dance for joy.
People who are the light of our lives.
Happy Love Day!

Today I reminisce and celebrate all the blessings in my life.
Another year has come and gone. The past year brought me many laughs, a few challenges, new friends, special time with family and loved ones, and moments that have made my heart swell.
Thank you all for your love.
You make me SOul HAPPY!

There are sounds to seasons.
There are sounds to places,
and there are sounds
to every time in one's life.

I did something a bit different for the photo prompt this week. Went a little "outside of the box." I browsed through all the photos stored away in my cell phone gallery in search of the color red.
We all do it, we whip out our cell phones and take photos of random stuff. It's fun to go back and look at what we've captured.
Sharing photo prompt at 52 Photos Project.
If you're here via 52 Photos Project, I invite you to check out what I've shared since your last visit.
Have a lovely day!

Photos make my heart skip with joy.
I'm known to whip out my camera at any moment. It's such a big part of me I don't even notice it anymore. Snap, snap, snap... it's like a knee reaction.
I photograph everything from the ordinary everyday-ness to the momentous. They all matter; they're all meaningful.
Photographs tell our story don't they? The moments when we wish we had a pause button to hold time still just a little longer.
It's about documenting, journaling, and preserving.
It's about memory keeping.
We want to keep the memories for ourselves, our family and friends.
How about you my friend? Do you snap photos when something tugs at your heart? Does capturing a pretty moment make your heart skip with joy?

Life is made up of snippets. Bits and pieces, morsels and nuggets. Moments of happiness.
That hot cup of coffee in the morning. The company of our four legged loyal friends. A peaceful afternoon reading a book. A handfull of delicious crops from our gardens. A casual dinner. Watching the night sky.
All these tiny fragments are significant if we only stop long enough to appreciate them.
May your weekend be overflowing with wonderful snippets to make you smile... and fill your heart.

This week's 52 Photos Project is Table at Mealtime and what I am about to describe is completely out of the ordinary and definitely not a part of our regular mealtime routine. This is a good example of the term: life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.
The sky was blue, birds were singing, grass blades were growing and then we discovered... the refrigerator had gone out! I was tempted to say a bad word in spanish but was too busy cleaning out the fridge. It was a state of emergency!
A freezer full of meat had thawed and we didn't have a choice; everything had to be cooked or else it would have gone bad. We grilled 24 burger patties, baked 2 chickens, baked 2 pounds of fish, boiled 2 pounds of shrimp and a partridge in a pear tree.
In the grand scheme of things, it wasn't a tragedy at all.
Plus, looking at it on the bright side, how often do we get to wake up our neighbors at 8:00 a.m. with the delicious aroma of burgers on the grill. :)

As you can tell... our pets, Kosmo (our cat) and Kirby (our dog) live a pretty darned good life. Kosmo sleeps all day, sunbathes on our patio and is in bird watching heaven. Kirby goes on long road trips, camping, fishing, gets on an airplane and flies to Texas, has routine visits to the pet salon and is a chic magnet. Life is good!
They also live their days waiting for their daily treats. Kirby has trained the husband well. They get a treat at specific times of the day and Kirby will remind us if we forget. I love how dogs have that interal clock (I wish I had one so I wouldn't have to hear the horrible sound of the alarm clock every morning).
Anyway, aren't these treat jars cute? I found them at TJ Maxx and love the little sayings on them.

If you're a pet lover, I'm sure you can relate to having your own quirky pet language, silly routines and doing everything you can to keep your furry family member as happy as can be!

He's into football forums, I'm into blogging.
He's into sci-fi movies, I'm into Oprah.
He's into chocolate, I'm into vanilla.
He's 6'2, I'm 5'2 (and shrinking).
He's a risk-taker, I keep it safe.
He's patient, I'm less than patient.
He's a defensive driver, I'm a lead foot.
He's left handed, I'm right handed.
He loves Coke zero, I love Crystal Light
... yet, it all seems to work. :)
Our marriage (like any marriage) is not perfect by any means, but I'm sure glad we both said "I do."
