Bring on the Light!

_dsc0829

I walk with camera in hand, eyes wide open, in search of light and there it is... casting beautifuly on a single blade of tall grass. I take several photos from every angle, I forget about my surroundings and engulf myself in a trance. I finally realize this and look around too see if anyone is watching. :)

If you love photography you know light is the single most treasured gift in our photographer hearts.

We adore the magic hour; the first and last hour of sunlight in the day. Everything seems more alive. The world gleams. It's as if a magic brush painted a beautiful glow.

We long for it, we wait for it, we seek it.

Seeking for the luminesce of light and capturing beams of sunrays is one of the reasons I'm continuously inspired to pick up my camera.

How about you? Are you a light seeker?

Now the Heart

_dsc1075

Years from now the heart

Will bear out its journey

And retain the magic

It is always learning.

Years from now the heart

Will listen to silence

And hear reverberations

Deep inside the earth.

The heart will trust itself

To heal, and, when in doubt,

To trace the perimeter

Of its own brilliant soul.

Years from now the heart

Will exist as the perfect

Point of entry for all

The lightness of this world.

Still Life

_dsc0931

You know my photography style right? My comfort zone is photographing still life.

I was excited to see Janice's photo prompt for this week at Focus 52.  All I had to do was look around at the things in my home office. I keep a special shelf on my desk full of my favorite books of poems and quotes. I immediately spotted this lovely book of poems; one of my most recents thrift store finds.

As you know, anytime I have money in my pocket and time on my hands I think of two things; books and photography.

By the way, I'm so glad you're here. Have I told you that lately? Well, I am!

Thanks for stopping by, for your lovely comments, your "likes" on my Facebook page and for allowing me to share my stories with you. Thank you.

It's Cold Outside

_dsc0877

Golden light comes through my office window and Kosmo has declared this his space.  The window faces the front of the house where he can observe the neighborhood. It's the perfect spot to soak in the sun when it's cold outside.

Dogs come when they are called,

cats take a message

and get back to you.

Look at the expression on his face.  I think he's in sunbathing bliss.

Black and White

2010-09-01_07

For the days when things are not black or white.

For the fear that clouds our optimistic point of view.

For the times when we have to hold our breath, and our tongue.

For the lessons we are meant to learn.

For the looking past the obvious to what lays underneath.

For the bad moments that will not last forever.

For the negative thoughts we fight off when our minds are in a dark place.

For the learning to take the good with the bad.

For the discovery of what we aren't to understand who we actually are.

For the knowing that things will turn out exactly as they are meant to be.

For the days when tomorrow is truly a new beginning.

Go ahead, press the red button.

Just know, we'll be okay.

(I'm not sure where all the above came from but here it is, in the most rawness of raw.)

I am ....

_dsc0868

I am...

  • definitely not one dimensional.
  • grateful for everything I have. Yet, I often have to snap out of it and remind myself.
  • here due to life affirming experiences.
  • not defined by my job. I love it, love my coworkers and our mission but I'm way more than that.
  • a daydreamer. Even while driving; hence this post.
  • bilingual. Hola amigos!
  • a nature lover. It feeds my soul.
  • living the best years of my life.
  • finally growing out my burnt bangs. If you straighten your hair every day, do not set your straightener to the highest heat level. Trust me! I almost burned my bangs right off!
  • stopping here but invite you to read more (if you're so inclined) at my about me page.

How about you? Can you relate to any of this randomness?

New

_dsc0852

Remember when you were in school and you decided to submit a project at the last minute? Well, that's how I felt with this photo prompt. Yesterday, I decided to join in on the fun at twoscoopz.  The deadline to submit the first photo prompt of the year was almost closed so I figured I'd join in next week.

Then I stumbled upon this today and thought it would be perfect for this week's prompt: New. We have had a mild winter and this lovely new bud is a sign of spring!  I can't wait to see all the newness of spring.

Janice, I'm excited to be a part of your community. I am submitting it SOOC but hope to get an A for effort.
