Lavender Dreams

Levander_collage
I'm not a big lavender fan as a scent for the inside of our home but I am loving the fragrance in our yard. We planted a couple of plants right next to our patio two years ago and I'm loving the burst of color.  The bees are loving it and we welcome them since they help pollinate the fruit trees.

I know it's often recommended as a sleep aid.  It's in oils, baby blankets, pillow liners, sleep masks, sleep aid patches, tea, candles, soaps... the list goes on.

I wish you could smell the fragrance.

Go ahead, scratch and sniff.

Refreshing Mint Lemonade

Lemonade

I spent Sunday afternoon enjoying this... a tall glass of lemonade. It almost looks too pretty to drink huh?

We planted one tiny mint plant last year and it's turned into a mint colony.  I need to find recipes to use it up but I can't find anything that sounds good; other than mint chocolate chip ice cream. I may be drinking gallons and gallons of mint tea for the rest of the summer unless I find some good recipes.

The sound of the sprinkler watering our grass, the music of an ice cream truck in a nearby neighborhood, and a tall glass of mint lemonade. Yep, that's my idea of relaxation.

It's perfect as an after dinner treat, a little pick me up after a long Sunday nap and a perfect ending to the weekend.

Ahhhh!

Our Backyard: Tulips Galore!

Picnik_collage_tulips_1

Holy smokes!  Here are the pretties.

They are the stars of our backyard.  It's too bad they don't last through the entire summer.  They help us greet spring and then quickly say goodbye.  I suppose it makes us appreciate them even more.

The nice thing though is they will multiply and bring us even more happiness next year!  So long lovely girls, thank you for bringing your sunshine to our home.

Splish Splash

Pict0007

Life is good for this bird!

This sight was evidence that spring has definitely sprung.  We caught this robin enjoying a dip in is new pool.  He'd fluff and splash and fluff and splash!  He was having too much fun.

The yard is alive with all the sounds of spring.  The birds have claimed their new homes and they're busy making their nests. Beautiful spring rains come and go, followed by sunshine and the chorus of birds chirping fills the air.

Birds sing after a storm;

why shouldn't people feel as free

to delight in whatever sunlight remains in them?

I think this robin will be visiting often.  He confirmed the newly added birdbath is a good addition to our backyard.
