Leaves are Fallin'

Dsc_0077

The first official day of winter is December 22 but it sure feels like autumn is not waiting around much longer.  We've had several days of high winds and the leaves are scattered on the ground.

I love taking closeup shots of pretty things. I suppose I want to see every single detail. I picked up this leaf after I snapped the photo to look at it up close. So pretty!

I may forget about them in a few weeks once inches of snow are on the ground, but these photos will help me remember our amazingly beautiful autumn.

Happy Weekend

Pict3214

The weekend is finally here!

I haven't decided what I'll be doing but it will definitely involve being outdoors.  The leaves are falling fast and the trees will be bare before we know it. I plan on taking a few more snapshots before they're all gone.

I may need to bundle up a bit.  Our weather is cooling down fast. Apparently it's going to be a "la nina" winter again which means colder temperatures and more snow.

Have a great weekend my friends!

In Complete Hibernation Mode

Today is Saturday.  I had every intention of going to the office this morning. I have a picture in my mind of reorganizing my files and sifting through hundreds of e-mails I've kept in the inbox in the event I ever need them again. I've had an over the limit warning pop up for days.

I looked out our master bedroom window and the beautiful color of this tree distracted me completely!

I turned on the Keurig, poured myself a cup of coffee, Kirby curled up on my lap and now here I am. I've postponed going to the office.

Oh autumn weather... you're killing me! You make me want to hibernate for days.

I can hear the husband watching college football on TV.  I think I'll join him in the family room. I'll grab my laptop and visit some of my favorite blogs, Pinterest and write another post if inspiration strikes again.

My new plan is to jump out of bed and go to the office for a few hours tomorrow morning. I'll need to put blinders on, ignore Kirby and hide my camera. If not, I'll be back here again :)

From My Kitchen Window

Leaves_changing

This crab apple tree is within direct view from my kitchen window. I love the different shades of color it's in right now.

Here's a photo of it in its spring bloom. What a drastic difference huh?

The trees are in their "tweener" stage right now. Give it another week or two and they will be in their full autumn beauty.

I plan to go on a photo walk of a beautiful neighborhood where branches of age-old trees spill over the streets. They look like enormous canopies of autumn colors.

I get excited just thinking about it. I can't wait to share them with you!

Prompt: A Circle

Fxcam_1301075900405

Our weather has been in the mid 50s to low 60s. It's been windy, cloudy and rainy.

It's the kind of weather that begs you to stay in bed while you listen to the rain pitter-patter against the window. Then eventually get up, lounge in jammie pants, comfy socks and a cozy sweatshirt.

There is nothing yummier during the cool autumn weather months than a hot bowl of soup.

Oh, the yumminess of autumn!

Perfect For The Soul

Pict2093

I realized I needed some "chill" time.  What's a girl to do?  I went for a walk at my favorite park and it was exactly what I needed to... downshift.  One thing we have absolute control over is the quality of our days right? So, this day, I chose to go for a leisurely walk to admire mother nature's flamboyant colors at this time of year; it's deliciously intoxicating.

The park was unusually quiet. Only a young couple throwing a frisbee, two women exercising, and a family with a cute two-ish year old girl.  I walked for a while, stopped at the waterfall, watched a cute family of ducks in the pond and sat on a bench to take it all in.  I've been there many times with friends and the hubby, but this day it was about taking my time. No hurried schedule, no to-do list, just me, Kirby and the beautiful scenery.  It's amazing what a relaxing walk can do to our souls. I bet my doggie Kirby's little soul was happy too; and warm.  He wore his comfy blue sweatshirt (with a hoodie); a gift from one of his grandmas. It was quite breezy and cool but neither of us minded whatsoever.

I hope you carve out some time for your own version of what is good for your soul.

Fall Warm and Fuzzies

Media_httpnyimage2ets_fhaue

We live in a beautiful part of the country where we can enjoy the four seasons.  It's hard to choose a favorite but I have decided, just for the record, that summer and fall are my absolute favorites.  This time of year has so much richness and bold colors with all the red and gold leaves.  Falls means cooler weather, beautiful rainy days, nutmeg and cloves simmering sachets, going to a pumpkin patch, guiltless lazy sundays, yummy comfort food, farmer's markets, raking leaves, jack-o' lanterns, eating pumpkin pie, preserving autumn leaves, planting tulip bulbs, snuggling with a good book... the list goes on.

Dear autumn season, tell Mr. Winter to delay his visit; I'd prefer you stay around for a while.
