It's Cold Outside

_dsc0877

Golden light comes through my office window and Kosmo has declared this his space.  The window faces the front of the house where he can observe the neighborhood. It's the perfect spot to soak in the sun when it's cold outside.

Dogs come when they are called,

cats take a message

and get back to you.

Look at the expression on his face.  I think he's in sunbathing bliss.

When the Winds are Strong

_dsc0953

If your life is windy these days -

winds of change, winds of adversity,

or maybe the constant winds of demands and expectations

that leave you feeling, well...

windblown - take heart.

As my mother used to say,

"The roots grow deep when the winds are strong."

To rest, To sleep, To dream

_dsc09151

It's cold outside, the wind is howling and my books are waiting. This is where I put my head down to renew my body and spirit. It's my sanctuary; it's where I rest, sleep and dream.

I cherish this space.

I love to end my days with a little bit of reading.

It's my ritual.

I tend to highlight excerpts I want to remember. Words and phrases that resonate with me. I'll stop and think it through, let it sit with me. I soak it in.

Are you a reader? Do you do this too?

What is Your Calling?

_dsc0855

"What is your purpose, what is your calling? What I know for sure is, if you ask the question the answer will come. What I know for sure is, you have to be willing to listen for the answer. You have to get still enough to learn it and hear it and pay attention, to be fully conscious enough to see not just with your eyes but through them to the truth of who you are and what you can be."

Color with Emotion

_dsc0883

I don't paint. I don't draw worth a darn. I can barely draw a stick figure but I do love to make cards. I color coordinated these happy colors and whipped them up!

Give me pieces of paper (especially pretty colorful ones), a glue stick and some embellishments and I"m a happy girl!  Sparkles, flowers, cardstock, inks, layers, brads... so fun!

Adding the "handmade with love!" stamp is my way of sealing it with a kiss (and a warm hug).

Black and White

2010-09-01_07

For the days when things are not black or white.

For the fear that clouds our optimistic point of view.

For the times when we have to hold our breath, and our tongue.

For the lessons we are meant to learn.

For the looking past the obvious to what lays underneath.

For the bad moments that will not last forever.

For the negative thoughts we fight off when our minds are in a dark place.

For the learning to take the good with the bad.

For the discovery of what we aren't to understand who we actually are.

For the knowing that things will turn out exactly as they are meant to be.

For the days when tomorrow is truly a new beginning.

Go ahead, press the red button.

Just know, we'll be okay.

(I'm not sure where all the above came from but here it is, in the most rawness of raw.)

Snippets of Life

Mosaic6bc3205b71541917cccecbddb6e3909e0bc8d80a

Isn't it fun to take photos with our camera phones? I love how the snapshots are so spontaneous. Plus, there are many apps with awesome effects available. My current favorite apps are Camera360 and Lighbox.

Making a collage is a fun way to piece them together and not leave them un-shared. :) I wore the sparkly jewelry to our hospital's Chirstmas party. The stamp made me laugh out loud at Hobby Lobby. I love my chandelier in my home office. The cupcake was too pretty to eat, but I did eat it. I treasure the photo of me and my grandmother. I just finished reading Traveling Mercies.

May your weekend include something sparkly. Something to make your heart race. Some sunshine to warm your skin. Your favorite type of bubbly. Time with your best friend. A bite of something sweet. A memory to warm your heart. A book you can't put down.

Happy weekend my peeps!

I am ....

_dsc0868

I am...

  • definitely not one dimensional.
  • grateful for everything I have. Yet, I often have to snap out of it and remind myself.
  • here due to life affirming experiences.
  • not defined by my job. I love it, love my coworkers and our mission but I'm way more than that.
  • a daydreamer. Even while driving; hence this post.
  • bilingual. Hola amigos!
  • a nature lover. It feeds my soul.
  • living the best years of my life.
  • finally growing out my burnt bangs. If you straighten your hair every day, do not set your straightener to the highest heat level. Trust me! I almost burned my bangs right off!
  • stopping here but invite you to read more (if you're so inclined) at my about me page.

How about you? Can you relate to any of this randomness?

Looking Closer

_dsc08491

I joked on my Facebook Page that I was going on a photograph safari.  I definitely didn't expect to photograph these jewels inbetween the blades of grass. I mean, come on! But I came to a screeching halt when I spotted them.

The light was just right and they sparkled like diamonds. Aren't they lovely?

That's why I love macro photography so much! It opens my eyes to the details that normally get lost in the noise of life.

This is as macro as I can get with my current gear. Guess what's on my wish list? Yep, a macro lens (in addition to a prime zoom lens). It's never too early to start hinting to Santa. *wink-wink*
